England play out bore draw

England played out a comfortable, but boring, draw at Kiev yesterday against Ukraine. It means the nation's hopes for qualification are now in the Three Lions' hands.

Last night England pressed another step forward to automatic World Cup qualification as they remained top of Group H, after a goalless draw against Ukraine at Kiev.

However, Roy Hodgson and his players have come under much criticism due to their lacklustre and timid performance, which has left many fans wondering how England will ever compete against the big teams in Brazil next year.

Both teams were at fault though, as neither seemed willing to take the game by the scruff of the neck. In truth, even Ukraine looked happy to play out a draw.

There were spells of pressure from the home side from time to time, but nothing that worried the English defence too much. Frank Lampard had a late chance to score on his 100th cap, but he saw his header go wide.

The bore draw now means that England's hopes of qualification for Brazil 2014 are completely in their hands,

We may be on course for qualification, but the performance yesterday has opened more question for Hodgson than they answered...
