It was reported yesterday that Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet will have medical at Liverpool today, as Brendan Rodgers looks set to complete his fourth signing of the summer.
If the £9m deal goes ahead, the Belgian will be joining new recruits Kolo Toure, Luis Alberto and Iago Aspas at Merseyside next season. Manager Rodgers is aiming to reinvigorate his squad as they look they to reestablish themselves as a force in England and Europe once again.
The capture of the 25-year-old Belgium international will almost certainly signal the end of Pepe Reina's Liverpool career. The Spaniard has been linked with a move to Barcelona- the club where he started his career.
Mignolet was Sunderland's player of the season last term as The Black Cats struggled to stay in the Premier League. There have been no news as yet on who Sunderland boss Paolo Di Canio wants as a replacement for his outgoing keeper.
It expected that Simon Mignolet will be unvieled as a Liverpool player later today.
