England Under-21s lost another game yesterday as the national side crashed out of the European Championships, finishing bottom of their group and failing to win any points.
The England players were beaten by Israel 1 - 0- their third defeat of the Championships- meaning they only managed to score just one goal the whole tournament.
Questions were quickly asked, by professionals and fans alike, as to why England have failed so miserably. Stuart Pearce, the team manager, claimed that the players were at fault. However many others blame him or wider systematic problems.
England went into the tournament off the back of 9 successive victories and were one of the clear favourites to lift the trophy before the tournament began.
But after these three lacklustre performances, many will demand a shake-up of the FA's youth development schemes for English youngsters.
