Chelsea qualify for Europa League Final

After two comprehensive victories over two semi-final legs against FC Basel, Rafael Benitez's Chelsea have reached the final of the Europa League.

For the next three weeks or so, Chelsea can still call themselves Kings of Europe. But after qualifying for the Europa League Final, the Kings could become Princes.

Two professional peformances from The Blues saw off FC Basel's lacklustre challenge. Both the games finished in Chelsea's favour; 2 -1 and 3 - 1, respectively.

The highlight of the fixtures came from David Luiz, who scored two magnificent strikes from outside the box. Benitez's inspired decision to employ the Brazilian as a holding midfielder paid dividends.

In the other semi-final tie,  Benfica overcame Turkish club Fenerbahce. Meaning the Londoners will meet the Portuguese side in the Europa League Final in Amsterdam, on 15th May.

Chelsea have reached two European club competition finals in as many years. If successful they will become only the third club in history to win all three major European trophies.

Could Chelsea's season be seen as a success if they were to prevail on 15th May? And what would it do for Benitez's reputation at the club?

He might not be The Special One, but The Interim One could write his name in Chelsea's history books....
