The League Is Now Man United's To Lose

Alex Ferguson's Manchester United now find themselves 9 points clear of Champions Manchester City at the top of the Premier League. Surely, this season's league title is now The Red Devils' to lose?

This weekend saw some thrilling, high-scoring encounters between some of the country's biggest clubs- but it was a standard 1 - 0 win away from home that was the most beneficial to it's victor.

We witnessed two brilliant matches at the weekend- the first Newcastle's 3 - 2 victory over Chelsea, and then Man City's draw against Liverpool of 2 - 2. But these two results were woeful for the two clubs chasing Premiership leaders, Manchester  United.

Manchester United's game at Craven Cottage against a fumbling Fulham was without suspense, controversy or spectacular goals- it was just a normal day at the office for Fergie's boys. But their 1 - 0 win means they have now drwan 9 points clear of their rivals.

For a few months it has looked like a two-horse race for the title, as Chelsea have continued to be unpredictable throughout the season. Finally, however, Manchester United have stretched their lead even further and who could argue they are definitely firm favourites?

It is surely now Alex Ferguson and his players to lose. But who can see them straying from their path- they have looked the most consistent all season.

Yet, stranger things have happened...
