Diamond's Weekly Overview: 17 December 2012

There only two games involving Premier League teams this week, but that does not mean there is a lack  of news coming out of the footballing world- including news on the "Poznan".

Premiership sides are involved in only two games during the week; Reading play host to Arsenal tonight, while Chelsea play their League Cup tie against Leeds on Wednesday. However, there is a lot going on in football elsewhere.

Monday 17 December

Reading v Arsenal- Following their amazing League Cup tie which ended 7 - 5 earlier in the year, the two sides clash again- this time in the Premier League. History rests firmly in Arsenal's favour, they have won all previous 10 competitive matches against Reading. However, we saw last week how vulnerable the London side can be in their League Cup quarter-final loss at the hands of League Two Bradford. Arsene Wenger's men will be looking to get back on form, but Reading are not short of motivation. This game could be very open with alot of goals.

Wednesday 19 December

Leeds United v Chelsea- The Blues travel to Yorkshire for yet another fixture in their busy December schedule, for the League Cup quarter-final. Chelsea have become somewhat unpredictable of late- they won clinically in Europe, the Premier League and the Club World Cup, before losing the final of the latter due to missed chances. Also last week, we all witnessed a giant slaying when Arsenal were beaten by Bradford- and Leeds will be hoping for something similar. Nothing is nailed on for this game, but if I was a betting man I would put money on Chelsea bouncing back in style.
