There are three British clubs competing in the Champions League tonight; Manchester United, Chelsea and Celtic. Whilst United have already qualified as Group H leaders, the two remaining teams' fate hangs in the balance and is out of their hands. Expect more drama than you get at the theatre, tonight.
Here's a run down of what we think may happen tonight, followed by some early transfer news.
Chelsea v Nordsjaelland- Stamford Bridge was the venue of some true nail-biters in Europe last season, and tonight's game may be added to that list. The Blues need a win- a draw or loss will see them eliminated from the competition. If Chelsea were not to progress they would be the first defending Champions not to make it past the group stages. One eye will definitely be cast upon Ukraine, as Blues fans hope Shakhtar Donetsk can beat Juventus. The Blues need to win their game and need Juventus to lose, in order to qualify. Get ready for an extremely tense finale. Prediction: Chelsea 3 - 1 Nordsjaelland
Celtic v Spartak Moscow- Following their heroics against Barca, Celtic were defeated by Benfica and now their chances of reaching the last 16 hangs in the balance. The Scots need to better Benfica's result in the final round matches. Neil Lennon's men are playing Spartak Moscow (who are already out), while Benfica are at Barcelona. We reckon it'll be a cagey affair, with the Scots trying not to concede early door with an exciting finish. Could see this one ending up as a draw, with the Portuguese losing at Barcelona- meaning Celtic will progress. Saying that though, there is bound to be twist... Prediction: Celtic 1 v 1 Spartak Moscow
Manchester United v CFR Cluj- The home side have already cemented top place in their group and with the Manchester derby ahead of them at the weekend, Sir Alex Ferguson may opt to rest some of his key players. Nemenja Vidic, who has definitely been missed whilst out injured, is set to make a return for the Red Devels. Although Man United may take it easy, their opponents will not as they still have a chance to clinch second place. We expect a young United headed by some experiece from Vidic to be showcased tonight, but do not expect them to be outshone. Prediction: Manchester United 3 - 1 CRF Cluj
Chelsea's Brazilian revolution seems to have been given another boost. Many have reported that Brazilian whizkid Wallace has agreed a deal to sign for Chelsea in the January transfer window. It is reported that the 18 year-old will join fellow countrymen David Luiz, Oscar, Ramires and Lucas Piazon at the Bridge, next Summer.
