The Stub Hub Center played host to the first match of the International Champions Cup, a tournament which encompasses a range of friendlies between sides around the World.
New signing and designated player Steven Gerrard made his debut for LA Galaxy, pressuring the ball and putting in some great accurate passes. But it was Club America who began on the front foot scoring their goal first, with a great finish by Carlos Quintero.
However, a moment of poaching genius came from Robbie Keane, after he scored a two touch goal. With a long ball forward, over his head. He was able to take both the defender and goalkeeper out of the game with the first touch and then finish with the second, to put LA Galaxy level with their opponents. Both Gerrard and Keane were then substituted at half time.
In the second half the sides seemed more evenly matched, but it was Galaxy who propped up with the goal after Alan Gordon scored a great header to give Galaxy the win.
Overall the match ended 2-1 to LA Galaxy, despite the fast counter-attacking play by their opponents.
