Under 21s: England vs Italy Preview

Gareth Southgate's England U21 side take on Italy U21s tonight. With England knowing a victory will see them through to the Semi-Finals of the competition.

England coach Gareth Southgate has predicted a tactical match for tonight's England U21 vs Italy U21s game.

While the three lions were able to snatch a win in the last match thanks to a good finish by Jesse Lingard. England will be working on making their finish more effective tonight, against the Italians. Nathan Redmond and Jesse Lingard will be the main threat going forward with Harry Kane finishing the England strike force. At the back John Stones will have to prevent balls from getting past the defence, while John Ruddy has been in good form lately and should he start Stones will be a little more reassured.

Italy on the other hand have their own talent and play well as a team but luck hasn't been on their side during the tournament, after only gaining a single point so far. A statistic which they will be eager to improve.  Italy coach Luigi Di Biagio has suggested a tactical switch in that his team could play either a 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 depending on, how their opponents play. The main danger man for the Italians will be Andrea Belotti who has scored eight goals for the Italian's during his U21 career.

With the weight of expectation on both sides shoulders, this will be a tight match-up.

Our Prediction: 2-1 England
