England were away to Slovenia yesterday with both team vying for top place in Euro 2016 Qualifying Group E.
After England's lacklustre performance against the Republic of Ireland in their previous match, many expected the same from England.
However, England did turn the tide. Initially Slovenia looked to have the upper hand when Novakovic sent them 1-0 up in the 37th minute. While managing a few shots England were unable to change the score line so the first half score line was 1-0 to Slovenia.
During the second half a fired up Jack Wilshere looked to rally England and his efforts paid off after he put in a great goal in the 57th minute. As the match continued, England continued to mount pressure on their opposition.
Wilshere was on fire during the second half after scoring a second spectacular strike to put England 2-1 up. Despite the goal, England's back four continued to have problems and Pecnik was able to head in a goal to set the result at 2-2.
While many questions were asked of Rooney after he missed some good chances during the game. The England captain proved his doubters wrong and was able to score in the 86th minute to maintain England's 6 match win streak in their qualifying group.
The 3-2 win signalled the first season since 1990-91 that England have gone without losing.
