WWC 2015: Sweden vs Nigeria Match Preview

Sweden take on Nigeria in Winnipeg this evening at the Winnipeg Soccer Complex. Sweden are currently ranked 5th in the world by FIFA unlike Nigeria who are ranked 33rd. Although this match could cause a few surprises tonight.

Tonight Sweden will take on Nigeria in the opening match of Group D.

Sweden are seen as favourites for the game but many expect Nigeria to shake things up.

Over the course of the game Nigeria are expected to put in a physical performance with Sweden opting to out pass their opponent.

Lotta Schelin is Sweden's biggest threat after scoring a staggering 80 goals for the side, a total which she no doubt will be looking to add to tonight. Nigeria on the other hand have a rising talent of their own to threaten Sweden with in Asisat Oshoala, who is making her first World Cup appearance.

Over the course of their warm-up games, Nigeria dominated in their continent with Sweden beating the Netherlands in theirs. While Sweden are clearly ranked the higher side, many have predicted an upset tonight due to Nigeria's physical presence and less pressure on their shoulders.

Our Prediction: 3-2 to Nigeria.
