Bristol Rovers: Back in the Football League

After a thrilling game and extra time, Bristol Rovers made it through to the Football League after beating Grimsby 5-3 on penalties.

The conference play-off final at Wembley signals a big opportunity for the sides involved and Bristol Rovers vs Grimsby certainly didn't hold back.

Grimsby went ahead almost immediately when John-Lewis put the ball in the net in the 2nd minute. While both sides had their fair share of chances it was Bristol's Harrison that managed to score the equaliser to send both sides level.

The second half saw anxious defending rather than rigorous attack from both teams and with no goals the game, went on to extra time.

There was more of the same for the extra time period sending the match to penalties. Darrell Clarke then made the big call to bring Goalkeeper Steve Mildenhall on for the penalty shootout.

Although Steve Mildenhall did not have to make a save the fact, he was switched on last minute did intimidate the Grimsby players, especially when Pittman put his penalty straight over the bar.

The final rovers penalty was left to Lee Mansell which he converted sending rovers back into the top flight.

Darrell Clarke was unable to prevent Rovers going down last year but has earned both players and fans admiration after he brought them straight back!
