Last night's semi-final provided a thrilling game of football from two sides showing they were very much in the tie to attempt to get Wembley!
Both Liverpool and Chelsea started the game with their full strength squads. Over the match possession stats were quite close with 54% Chelsea and 46% Liverpool.
The great football on display and a good game from both keepers (Thibaut Courtois & Simon Mignolet) made the game that much more special. However, both sides failed to score in 90 minutes although there were some questionable decisions. Including Costa's stamps on both Can and Skrtel. As well as Jordan Henderson's hand ball and some second yellow cards which were not given.
One such occasion occurred when Ivanovic came up with the goods and headed in Chelsea's goal during extra time. Chelsea boss Mourinho missed the goal entirely as he was complaining to Phil Dowd (4th Official).
Despite his manager missing the goal, Ivanovic knew he had sent Chelsea in to the final and there was a sense of relief around Stamford Bridge.
Over the encounter both sides gave it everything and tactically the game was superb.
