The final Champions League group games of the 2013/14 season will take place this week. Today, there are two British teams (Manchester United and City) competing.
The two English teams have already qualified for the group stages of the tournament.
Despite their fates in the tournament already decided, the teams will play for pride or place. Here is our preview to the games:
Manchester United v Shakhtar Donetsk
Despite their lack of form in the league, Manchester United have impressed in the Champions League. The Red Devils need just a draw to finish top of Group A. However, their task might not be that straight forward as opponents Shakhtar Donetsk are still fighting for their place in the last 16 - Bayer Leverkusen could leapfrog the Ukranians if the German's win and Shakhtar lose or draw. Expect an uncomfortable night at Old Trafford for David Moyes who is trying to avoid his third straight home defeat.
Bayern Munich v Manchester City
Both teams have already qualified for the knock-out stage, but City can still finish top of Group D if they were to win by more than two goals or score atleast four. It is a grave task for Pellegrini's men whose away form this season has come under much scrutiny. On top of this, they are playing the best team in the world and the tournament's champions. Many expect Manuel Pellegrini to rest a few key players as he looks ahead to the weekend's Premier League fixture. Bayern Munich are clear favourites for this tie.
