Super, super Frank- super Franky Lampard. England midfielder, Frank Lampard reached yet another milestone in his Chelsea career as he headed home in The Blue's victory over West Ham yesterday evening.
The midfield veteran scored his 200th goal for Chelsea in all competitions and is now only two goals behind Bobby Tambling's all time record of 202. With nine league games and potentially a mass of cup ties still to play this season, Frank is odds-on to eclipse Tambling's long-standing record.
After 199 goals for his beloved Blues, Lampard still had the hunger and drive to get on the end of a smart cross from Eden Hazard to open the scoring for Chelsea against West Ham in the London derby. He leapt above the Hammer's defense with a powerful header- once again showing his vast array of attacking prowess.
Chelsea went on to easily win the game 2 - 0 after Hazard struck on the 50th minute. The Belgian has now scored two in two games and got an assist for good measure.
Lampard described the game and his goal as a true highlight of his long career. Following the goal, speculation over Lampard's future at Chelsea was reignited with many of his contemporaries, pundits and fans calling for Abromovich to offer the Chelsea legend a new contract.
Whether Lampard will still be a Chelsea player next season remains to be seen. But for the time being, Lampard will be fully focused on helping Chelsea succeed in their cup competitions and beating Tambling's record- there is no player that deserves it more.
