The January transfer window is usually rife with gossip and speculation about one or two players. Just remember a couple years ago when Fernando Torres signed for Chelsea from Liverpool and the weeks of "will he, won't he" that surrounded that. Yet one would do well to think of any player that has been linked with more clubs in any transfer window, than Radamel Falcao.
It seems that every major suitor in Europe have shown an interest in the Columbian- his £48 million price not hindering his appeal at all. Below we look at five clubs who have been linked to "El Tigre" and weigh up their chances of signing him.
Real Madrid
At one point, it looked a certainty that Falcao would be making a short trip across Madrid from Atletico to Real. The Spanish champions definitely have cash-clout to front Falcao's lucrative price tag and it is rumoured they were his boyhood team. But much reported unrest concerning big names at the club, may have hindered their chances of signing him.
Paris St Germain
In the past 24 hours it has been widely reported that the French club would be the strikers prefered choice. "It's not impossible that PSG and [Falcao will] see eachother very soon", according to the striker. The thought of a Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Radamel Falcao strike partnership has already set PSG fan's mouths watering.
Chelsea
The Blues are another club that have been linked to the player- especially yesterday, when a Spanish radio station reported that Falcao had already signed terms with Chelsea. It is well known that Roman Abramovic is very fond of a classy centre forward- having invested big in them in the past. However, will the Russian be willing to gamble on another?
Manchester City
Uncharacteristically Manchester City have played the silent suitor in the Falcao saga. Roberto Mancini has stated his interest and admiration for the Columbian but nothing else. However, with many expecting City to offload atleast one of their strikers this season, there may be space for a new striker to join the English champions.
Arsenal
They are most definitely the outside bet, but back in October last year The Guardian ran an article linking Falcao to Arsenal. Although you may not think it, Arsenal could afford Falcao's £48 million price tag due to signing a new £150 million sponsorship deal. Recently the board and Wenger have lost the fan's support, but what would get the fans back on side better than signing Europe's most coveted striker?
