Tbilisi (Georgia) was the host for yesterday's Super Cup Final between Barcelona and Sevilla. The match was a thrilling one and included 9 goals! But it was Barcelona who made it out on top.
Initially Sevilla were put ahead, as Banega scored a free-kick in the 3rd minute. However, in the 7th minute Messi returned the favour after he scored a free-kick. Sending the score to 1-1.
Messi proved why he's one of the best, after stepping up again in the 15th minute to score a second free-kick this time further out than his previous one.
Rafinha was then next on the scoresheet as he put Barcelona 4-1 up just before half time.
Just when Sevilla fans thought their side were dead and buried, Jose Antonio Reyes was able to score after a missed header by Mathieu. Sevilla then stepped up further when in the 72nd minute Gameiro converted a penalty, sending the score-line to 4-3.
Towards the later stages of the match Barcelona's defence fell apart and allowed Konoplyanka to score in the 81st minute. The 90 minutes ended 4-4 and therefore extra-time was to be played.
Although rumoured to be moving away from Barca, it was Pedro who came through for them as he came off the bench to score the winning goal in the 115th minute.
The result means Barcelona won the Super Cup adding to the three trophies they have this year (La Liga, Spanish Cup, Champions League).
Despite the sheer amount of goals in the game, both coaches will be looking to keep their defences tighter going into their league season.
