WWC 2015 Semi Final: England vs Japan

England take on current holders Japan tonight in the second World Cup Semi Final. With the winner set to face the USA in the final. We're Predicting 2-1 to England.

England have overcome many obstacles, to reach this stage of the competition (the first time in their history). Tonight (midnight) they are up against current holders Japan.

Throughout the competition, Mark Sampson has chosen to go with a tactical game-play to try and combat each opposition and it has worked. Of course the individual talents of his team have helped, namely Lucy Bronze (who sent the side through to the Quarter and Semi Finals) and Steph Houghton who has lead the team in the competition and even scored a goal to help them on their way.

Although, the lionesses will have a tough job up against the current holders. Japan have only conceded two goals during the tournament so far. With a very tight defence and a good keeper in Kaihori they will make it hard for England. Utsugi is the main player that makes things happen for the team and England will have to have her closely marked.

Overall both sides go into their matches with tactical game plans. While Japan like to dominate possession and England prefer the counter-attack both, are capable of changing their play style against their opponents. But with the winner earning a place in the final we're expecting a heated match-up.

Our Prediction: 2-1 to England
