England vs San Marino - Match Report

Lead by captain Wayne Rooney, England beat San Marino 5-0 last night.

On a cold night at Wembley England took on San Marino. In front of over 50,000 fans.

San Marino took a defensive approach to the game sometimes having all 11 men behind the ball. Once England broke them down it was all over for San Marino.

Jagielka got England off to a good start by scoring a powerful header. Captain Rooney then scored for a penalty for England putting them 2-0 up.

During the second half Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck scored in the 49th minute. Exciting winger Andros Townsend scored in the 72nd minute after he cut inside and shot, just inside the 18 yard box.

Della Valle then scored an own goal in the 77th minute, meaning England won the game 5-0.

England started slowly but did get the desired result and they will know there are tougher tests to come. The match puts England top of the their Euro 2016 Qualifying group.
