USA vs Belgium Match Report- Extra Time decides it

The 90 minute whistle went with the score at 0-0 this mean't the match had to be decided in extra time where both teams proved they wanted win!

First 90 minutes:

Klinsmann decided to go into the game with a 4-3-3 formation in order to take the game to Belgium. The Belgians had other ideas after they came close to scoring in the opening minutes with Divock Origi and a poor miss from Kevin De Bruyne.

The USA's hero in 90 minutes was Tim Howard who made a total of 10 saves during the 90. Both teams failed to score during the first 90 minutes and the match looked like it was heading to penalties

Extra-time:

Once the whistle blew for the beginning of extra time both teams hit the ground running. Belgium scored in the first 3 minutes of extra time after De Bruyne converted a Lukaku assist. Lukaku then added Belgium second in the 105th minute. The USA responded by throwing everyone forward which resulted in Julian Green scoring a volley 2 minutes later making the score 2-1. The USA almost equalised later on but were denied by a good save from Courtouis.

Our Thoughts:

We think the USA did a fantastic job at the World Cup. First they progressed through the "group of death" which included Germany, Portugal and Ghana. Their fans then showed their support for the tournament by creating global trends on Twitter. The players showed the "Heart" that some Americans suggest is one of the biggest elements in sport and proved that they have the right players to go far in an international tournament.

Tim Howard also broke the record for the most goals saved in a game with 15. With these features and the World Cup experience, we think the USA will be the team to watch during the next World Cup in Russa (2018).
