Premier League Midweek Matches Preview

After a dramatic weekend in which Martin Jol lost his job, all 20 Premiership teams will be in action this week. We take a look at the key midweek games.

Last weekend's football in the Premier League was full of highlights. But for Martin Jol it represented a downward spiral to unemployment after the Dutchman's sacking due to his sides poor performance against West Ham.

Fulham (with new manager Rene Meulensteen) and the other 19 Premier League teams will be in action over the week.

Below, we take a look at the key midweek Premier League games:

Crystal Palace v West Ham

It seems, even at this early stage of the season, that both these sides are locked in a relegation battle. However, the London clubs have looked improved in recent weeks so this could be a bit of a battle. Despite their impressive 3 - 0 victory over Fulham at the weekend, a result in the opposite direction could mean the end of Sam Allardyce's spell at The Hammers.

Manchester United v Everton

Undoubtedly the true highlight of all the midweek fixtures is David Moyes versus the club where he spent 11 years. As it stands, Everton sit three places and two points ahead of The Red Devils in the Premier League table. I can not remember a Man Utd v Everton game where it has been so hard to call who will come out on top. A must watch.

Fulham v Tottenham

After Jol's dismissal at Fulham, Andre Villas-Boas has been many peoples favourite as the next Premier League manager to face the chop. However, Spurs' draw against Manchester United on Sunday did quieten his critics somewhat. A win at Craven Cottage is must for Villas-Boas against a struggling Fulham side managed by debutant Rene Meulensteen.
