It has been reported that Christian Benteke, Aston Villa's best player of the 2012/13 season, has submitted a transfer request - yet the club still expect him to stay.
After an impressive debut season in the Premier League, where the towering forward netted 23 goals, speculation over Benteke's future has been rife.
It is believed that Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea have shown a keen interest in the player, whilst German outfit Borussia Dortmund have been keeping tabs too.
Paul Lambert commented on the situation that he was "hugely disappointed" at the Belgium international.
Christian Benteke joined Aston Villa last season from Genk for £7m. The 22 year old has been a central figure in Lambert revolution which is built around developing young talent.
If Benteke is allowed to leave and the club sell him they are expected to make a substantial profit from their original investment in the player.
