England were able to beat Canada 2-1 thanks to two early goals. During the match Lucy Bronze again came up trumps for England.
Over the course of the match it was Canada who had the majority of possession at 58%, compared with England's 42%. In the first half England were able to attack the Canada defence, exposing their weaknesses which was topped off when Jodie Taylor made a run through the defence and scored a great finish, just on the edge of the box.
It was Lucy Bronze who scored the next goal for the Lionesses after a free-kick. The kick was floated right to the back post which Bronze was then able to loop over McLeod with a header, sending the score to 2-0.
Canada then seemed to dominate most of the possession and came close to scoring on a number of occasions but were just unable to add the finishing touch. However, England did manage to keep the Canada defence on their toes after a number of fast-paced counter attacks, in the second half.
Despite the efforts from the hosts, it was England who came out on top. Signalling their first ever time at the World Cup Semi-Finals. In which they will play current holders Japan.
