Lampard to win 100th England cap

To top off a splendid year in his career in which he has set numerous records, Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard will win his 100th cap for England in the game against Ukraine tonight.

The accolade tonight tops off a year in which Lampard broke records for club Chelsea - he became The Blues all time top scorer, sealing himself a year extension on his contract.

The 35-year-old midfielder will join team-mates Steven Gerrard and Ashley Cole in the over 100 cap clubs - becoming only the eighth man to reach the milestone ever. Others to reach the milestone are Peter Shilton, David Beckham, Bobby Moore, Bobby Charlton and Billy Wright.

Lampard made his debut for England 14 years ago, in October 1999 in a 2 - 1 victory over Belgium. Since he has gone on to score 29 times for his country and captained the national side on five occasions.

England go into their game tonight as leaders of Group H, but will be overtaken by Ukraine should they lose.

National manager Roy Hodgson will make only one change to the side that beat Moldova 4 - 0 on Friday. James Milner is expected to replace a suspended Danny Welbeck.
