It is upon us- the most exciting day of the year so far, for football fans. The January transfer window finally closes at 11pm today.
There has been some highlights during the window; most notably Mario Balotelli's departure from Manchester City. However, it is always the deadline day that is filled with the most drama and suspense- as managers far and wide try to improve their squad resulting in panic buying.
Below, we list five player that could still move clubs...
Mohamed Diame (West Ham) - To Arsenal
The Senegal international has established himself as the driving force of West Ham's midfield since signing in the Summer. He has a £3.5m buy-out clause which could be triggered by a number of clubs- although it looks like Arsenal are the most likely candidate. Diame's style of play evokes fond memories of Arsenal legend Patrick Viera.
Gary Hooper (Celtic) - To Tottenham or Norwich
The Essex boy plying his trade in Glasgow has been doing so very well this season- scoring 22 goals from 33 appearances for Celtic. Hooper left Tottenham's academy at 14 as he was not getting enough youth football, so a return would be something of a fairytale. Both Spurs and Norwich have made bids, but Celtic are golding out for £10m.
Danny Graham (Swansea) - To Sunderland, Norwich or Middleborough
In what seems to be the most drawn out transfer saga this year, there is still uncertainty on Graham's future. He has stated that his prefered destination would be Sunderland. Both the Black Cats and Norwich have had £4m offers rejected by Swansea in the past few weeks. This morning it was reported that Middlesborough are now interested, too.
Tom Ince (Blackpool) - To Liverpool or Swansea
At the end of last year it looked a done deal that Ince would returning to his former club, Liverpool. However, all plans have hit the skids after Blackpools insistence that the player is worth more than Liverpool are willing to pay (£6m, whilst Blackpool want £8m). Swansea have been closely monitoring the situation and could make a swoop for the youngster.
Peter Odemwingie (West Brom) - QPR
Relations between Peter Odemwingie and, well, everyone at The Baggies seem to have deteriorated over this transfer window. The 31-year-old Nigerian has taken to any platform possible (most notably, Twitter) to state his desire to play under Harry Redknapp at QPR. But Steve Clarke os holding strong- but after such unsettlement, is it not better to cut his losses?
