West Brom Stomp To Third Spot

West Bromwich Albion charged into the third spot following their stomping win away at Sunderland.

Diamond Football sponsored West Bromwich Albion went third in the Premier League at the weekend. The Baggies recorded a fouth fop-flight win on the trot- a feat they have not achieved since 1980- with dominant victory over Sunderland.

In turn, they have ovetaken Chelsea (who drew against Manchester City in a dismal Sunday game), and are now only four points off league leader's Manchester United.

Fans at the Stadium of Light saw West Brom go into the half time break with a two goal advantage. Zoltan Gera's curling strike saw them take the lead at the half-hour mark, whist Shane Long (pictured with Diamond Football equipment) latched onto a Simon Mignolet fumble a minute before the half time whistle was heard.

Some hope was instilled in the home side when Craig Gardner found the net with a free kick, but the inform Lukaka converted a penalty soon after.

Staphane Sessegnon set up a tense finale when he made it 2 - 3, on the 87th minute. But the game was soon sealed when Marc-Antoine Fortune struck in the last minute of the game.

The game once again showed West Brom are a side not to be taken lightly- proving their ability to grind out a result and control a game. Overall, The Midlands side dominated their Wearside hosts.

The words "West Brom" and "Europe" have now been mentioned in the same sentence on many occasions. But manager Steve Clarke has played down such talk- insisting his team are not thinking about the prospect of playing in The Champion's League next season.

But if West Brom continue in this form, it'll become an ever more prominent topic of conversation...
